Workpieces in a swirl
Workpiece contamination with chippings and oil is common directly after a grinding or cutting process. In most cases this is removed using a pre-cleaning process. Injection flood washing is included in many PURIMA lines as the first or one of the first process stages for this reason. Injector nozzles are fitted in process tanks in a specific arrangement to suit the workpiece. The workpiece is subjected to a water spray at 3 to 15 bar. The interplay of pressure and volume creates strong turbulence in the cleaning tank, causing cavitation in hollow areas and on surfaces. An effective liquid exchange is created at interfaces, even for complex workpiece geometries.
